Happy Spring!

We at the Caledonia Farmers’ Market Association are very excited to announce that we are launching a new market! Every Wednesday from June 10th to October 7th, you can find us at the Four Seasons town park right on the corner of Main and Winter street from 3pm-6pm!

This location and time is the perfect addition for your early evening summer walk around town or on the way home from the pool. We will have everything you need for your midweek shopping trip— prepared foods, sweets to have on all your adventures, and plenty of crafts and gifts for that special someone in your life whether you are visiting town or a seasoned regular!

If you are interested in joining us as a vendor please visit our website and fill out the new vendor application. Wednesday market will host new and familiar faces from our Saturday markets on Pearl street and we can’t wait to kick off a new season!

The market will continue to be a safe and welcoming place for families. We chose the location with families in mind. The Four Seasons park has a playground adjacent to our market where children and adults alike, who want to eat strawberries or baked goods on the swing, can gather and play. We feel so privileged to see our community grow their families and navigate new adventures. We have seen children run around our market with blueberry stained lips grow into adults chasing after their own children covered in blueberries from the same bushes. We get to see our vendors with children strapped to their backs become vendors with children finding ways to contribute to the family business. We want to continue to be the grocery trip your kids are excited to go on.

As a market we have a long history of growing food in our growing community. Our market has been running for over 50 years! We have adapted and changed as time demands of all things. We have endured years of drought and years of water to our waists. We chopped and dried hay in record-time one year, only to then ask each other who was selling bales the next. Our association has been adapting every year to meet the needs of our vendors and of our customers. Farmers are uniquely positioned at the forefront of changes in the world and this season is no different— We find ourselves once again in the fragility of growth. You, the community, are the reason we feel safe to make this change because we know you care for us the way we care for our gardens, our flocks, and each other.

If you are reading this, chances are you have been to market and felt a sense of belonging. This is something that we deeply value. We want every person who visits our markets to feel at home. Our goal in adding a second market to St. Johnsbury is to foster that sense of community. Having a second day to make that face to face connection and grow our friendships with neighbors. Community building is a large undertaking but work that we at the Caledonia Farmers’ Market Association feel called to do. Thank you for joining us in this mission through the years and for many more to come.
